On the Fly - Featured October 26 (That's today!)
Today's set is called "On the Fly" and it is really pretty. This would be great for friends and family members who like fishing and or nature. I have two projects today, my first one is also included on the main blog:
I love the nature scene from the stamp set, such a pretty and impressive scene! Of course that had to be the one I started with, so I stamped it on water colour paper with Staz On, and used my Stampin' Up Markers, a few ink pads, and a water brush to colour. I decided last minute that the mountain tops needed snow so I waited until the image was dry and then squished some white pigment ink onto my craft mat. I used my water brush to dab some onto the mountains. I love water colouring in this way as it is so easy and makes me feel like a true artist!
The center was kept simple with an inked piece of cream matted with chocolate brown, then the sentiments stamped in opposite corners.
I would like to enter this card into the Deep Ocean challenge for sporty and outdoor themed cards.
My second project was another clean and simple card that brought out my artistic side:
Again I started with the stamps, and stamped them with black pigment ink on water colour paper, then heat embossed with clear powder. A few days previous as I was searching through my stash for something else, I came across a shimmery water colour set that I had forgotten about. I immediately knew I would use them for this image. As I painted the image I was thinking about how fish look shimmery and irridescent when they are not in the water. I didn't paint it to look like any fish in particular though, I just used colours that I thought would be pretty.
As I liked how the images came out I decided to keep the rest of the card really simple. I chose a cream card base and added some jute twine. The edges of the water colour paper were distressed with a distressing tool, mini brads were added to the corners and the panel was foam taped over the jute twine.
Since the card was so simple I thought just a sentiment would be enough.
I would like to enter this into the Creative Stamp Friends card for masculine themed cards.
This is a great set to work with and I can't decide which image is my favourite, lol. While I'm trying to figure that out, why don't you have a look to see what the other DT members have created? This is a hop after all and you could win a stamp set of your own! Don't forget to visit the main blog to see what other inspiration is waiting for you.
