(You do NOT have to comment on all the blogs each day.  The names are drawn randomly.)  All four winners will be announced on October 27, 2012 on the Mark's Finest Papers blog.  You can go back and comment if you missed a day.  (HINT:  The more you comment the more chances you have to win and comments on the MFP blog count twice!)  The deadline for commenting is 11PM EST on Friday October 26, 2012.

Today's stamp set is called "Cracked Hello"  and I have to say that I think it is my favourite!  I love this background stamp, so fun!  Here is what I came up with:

I started by stamping the cracked texture with brown ink on kraft.   I had to be creative because I don't have a block big enough for such a big stamp so I actually used one of my Cuttlebug plates, lol. I trimmed the image into squares and inked each one.  I stamped before trimming to make sure the pattern was straight on my squares.  I chose some coordinating papers from a 6x6 My Mind's Eye pad, and inked everything with light brown.  The yellow piece was adhered directly to the kraft card base, and some coordinating washi tape added over that.  The smaller panel was foam taped over the washi tape, then the squares were foam taped on the smaller panel.  I rotated the pattern on some of the squares for interest.

I stamped the sentiment on more pattern, banner cut the ends, and inked it with more light brown.  this was foam taped over the squares.  Of course I couldn't be finished, lol, so I added some glitter pen to the sentiment, and some rhinestones.  I added the rhinestones in what I thought was a random manner but they almost look like a pattern.  I think its because I added two gems in each spot.  I like how it turned out. :)

For the center of the card I inked some kraft and matted it with another yellow tone pattern, and this panel was adhered over more washi tape that had been added to the card base.  I decided last minute to add some squares leftover from the front.  I really like how it turned out!

This is a great stamp set!  The sentiments are great for any holiday, and you can use the big stamp as a traditional background stamp, or you can cut it up into pieces like I did to use as a focal point, or to use as embellishments.  I love sets that are really versatile and can be used throughout the year!  :)

Don't forget to hop along to the rest of the DT members and see what lovely projects they've all come up with.  And there is a ton more inspiration back at the main blog.  Also, the hop isn't done yet - there is one more day left so don't forget to come by tomorrow!

  3. I love the versatility of this background stamp too. Your card is such an elegant design and looks so beautiful. I had to have a little laugh about the cuttlebug plate being used for the stamp, mine are so bent I would have to rock them back and forth to get the image on the paper. cheers Linda
