I started with a fun set called "Fun With Owls" from our awesome sponsor The Cutting Cafe. This month is all about 'hooters' afterall. I decided on the images I wanted, printed it, coloured the owls, and trimmed them out the way I wanted. I chose coordinating papers, tape, and ribbon.
I decided to fussy-cut the sentiment and also added that with foam tape. Once adhered to the card base I used some Crystal Effects on the eyes. Gems were added for sparkle and to add even more pink into the mix.
I kept the inside simple with room for a note, inked ivory matted with some patterned paper.
Breast cancer has unfortunately touched all of our lives in one way or another. My grandmother passed from this terrible disease back in 1992. A self-taught artist, and funny (she was a hoot in fact!) she taught me much of what I know about art and other handicrafts. She didn't make cards or scrapbook, but if she were still here I know she would be crafting right along with me. When I learn a new technique I often think "Nanny would like that". I miss her, and I'm thinking of her when I say that it is important that we as women look after ourselves and each other as best we can, and keep pushing for a cure so that no one else has to suffer, or lose someone they love.
With that said, now its your turn! Think pink, create your project accordingly, and link it up at Craft Your Passion Challenges by October 7th. There are prizes at stake, read all about them back at the blog!
And don't forget to have a look at what the other DT members are created. We are all thinking pink this month so there is a lot if inspiration to be had! :)
