Craft Your Passion #139 Let it Snow!

Its Monday everyone, and that mean's its time for another Craft Your Passion Challenge!  Its also the first Monday in December, which means winter is fast on its way.  For that reason we are asking you to create a project with a snowy theme.  Let it snow!  Here is what I came up with:

I started with the image from sponsor A Day for Daisies called Pretty Ornaments.  We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to choose whatever image we wanted for this project, and even though the ornaments don't exactly fall into a snowy theme, I knew I could make it work.  Once I had my image I chose some patterned papers and card stock that I wanted to work with and coloured the image to coordinate.

Once coloured I added some glitter pen to the image, and spritzed the image with a clear glimmer spray for a touch more sparkle.  Some rhinestones were added to the bows and I inked the edges of the panel. The panel was matted with some inked blue.

At this point I die cut each snow flake from the patterned papers and embossed them with a beige embossing mat.  Before removing the snowflakes from the dies I utilized the stencil feature by spraying contrasting mists.  Since I have usually only seen people blend ink through the dies instead of using sprays, I thought the sprays might bleed, but they turned out pretty well.  I think the trick was not to saturate the paper to much, and I dried the paper with my heat tool before removing it from each die.  I was worried if the paper was still wet it paper might rip.

I cut down the rest of my card stock and patterned paper after inking the edges I assembled the main panel.  After adhering some ribbon I attached the panel to the card front and added a bow.  The largest snow flakes were adhered in opposite corners with some Quick Dry glue, and then I foam taped the image panel over the ribbon.  The remaining snow flakes were added with more foam squares and then I added some rhinestones to the snow flakes.

For the centre of the card I added some inked white with a mat, and some strips of the leftover patterns.  I stamped my sentiment with Versafine ink and I was done!

Now its your turn!  Create your project with a snowy theme and link it up at Craft Your Passion Challenges by Sunday December 9th in order to be included in the draw.  Have a look back at the blog to see what is being offered this week!  As always there are some great prizes!

And don't forget to visit the rest of the DT!  Every week they surprise me with their creativity and this week is no exception.  If you need inspiration there is a lot to go around!
