Get Inspired - Clouds and Rainbows

Hi everyone!  Its Saturday which means its time for some cardmaking inspiration!

This week its my turn to share something I've found inspirational.  I was looking through the photography section of Pinterest and I came accross this image:

This pretty photo originally came from a Russian site you can find here.  From what I understand from Google translate the site contains photos from photographer Saul Santos Diaz.  I love the rainbow colours as a backdrop for the clouds so I used that as my inspiration.  Here is what I came up with:

I used two Mark's Finest Papers sets. The clouds come from a set called "Rain Clouds", and the sentiments come from a more recent set called "Lots of Words".

For the background I hauled out all of my bakers twine and added the colours to the main panel in rainbow order.  Can't remember rainbow order?  I still use an acronym from elementary school science class- Roy G Biv which stands for Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo Violet.  Good ol' Roy always comes in handy, lol.

Once I stamped the clouds I trimmed them out, foam taped them to the card and added some Glossy Accents.  Once dry I added rhinestones and my sentiment.  A final touch was the little bow in red twine, I couldn't resist.

The center was kept simple with a sentiment and offset clouds.

Thats it for me today, I hope you find my post inspirational!  Please visit the Get Inspired page at MFP Speedy TV next week to see what MariLynn does with this image.  There are so many different things she could do! Roses in January - Get Inspired Week 2

Hi Everyone, happy Saturday!  Its my turn to contribute for our Get Inspired column over at MFP Speedy TV!

My card this week uses inspiration provided by MariLynn last week, a lovely photo of  her Mom's roses:

When thinking of roses I thought of a set from last year called "Love, Love, Love". Here is what I came up with:

Of course the stamp set is Valentine themed, and so I decided to make a Valentine's day card.  I decided to use a paper tole technique with the rose by stamping and embossing the flower image three times, colouring the image then trimming out the flowers layering for a demensional look.  I also used some dry embossing, pulling out my favourite Valentine's day folder and embossing some wood grain patterned paper, and some vellum with a lace embossing folder.  I sanded the pattened paper so that the words would be emphasized.  I used a distressing tool on the lace to give the edges some texture.  This was a surprisingly quick card considering all of the techniques used here.  I really like how it came out.

Are you inspired to create? If so please link your creation below, we would love to see what you come up with!

Today's set is very pretty and would be great for many types of cards.  Its called "Umbrella's and Fans"

I must say I'm a little disappointed with my contribution today.  I had three cards planned but I only had the time to make one. Oh well, I'll have to show you my other ideas another time.  For today here is what I came up with!

I love the opaque white marker on kraft combined with the white stitching.  Simple, but a pretty note card.

I hope you enjoyed my card!  Now its time to hop along to talented Sue to continue with the hop. Or if you came to my blog first, click over to the Mark's Finest Papers blog to start from the beginning.  Our DT is so talented you won't be disappointed!  :)

Come on back tomorrow for more creativity!

Today's set is a lovely one called "Swans":

This set made me think of weddings, anniversaries, and even Valentine's day.  As such I stuck with a simple colour pallete of white, black and red for all of the cards.

I hope you enjoyed my cards!  Now its time to hop along to talented Sue to continue with the hop. Or if you came to my blog first, click over to the Mark's Finest Papers blog to start from the beginning.  Our DT is so talented you won't be disappointed!  :)
