The special stamp set we have for you this month is:
"News From The Woods"
Well after the snow storm that we had here yesterday it definitely does not look like spring, so this stamp set, called Glad Glads, is a good reminder of what spring might look like eventually, lol. :)
Pretty, eh? Of course my favourite image is the larger flower and I decided to water colour it.
I heat embossed the image before colouring and I find it gives it a nice detail. Keeping all of the papers monotone helps make the image pop.
For my second card I decided to use my other favourite technique, cracked glass.
For this card I used a lot of white pen to highlight and embellish. Under the cracked glass embossing I find the white gel pen gives depth to the image.
I hope you enjoyed viewing my cards as much as I enjoyed making them. The rest of the DT had a great time with the stamps this month so don't forget to continue hopping and see what wonderful things they've done. And you should also visit the Mark's Finest Papers store. There you will find a lot more beautiful stamp sets and some wonderful crafty products! :)

Stunning cards, Cathy. One of my fave techniques is cracked glass, too. I love the richness of the first, too.
ReplyDeleteThat first card is definitely a stunner! The embossing makes the glads pop against the more subtle background.
ReplyDeleteCathy, your water coloring is gorgeous!!! Beautiful design of the card and I love the black bow! Love the "peace" image in brown on your second card, I haven't played with that stamp yet but I will definitely try it in brown!
ReplyDeleteI did heat emboss in white on the first one. Give it a try and let me know what you think. I tried one in black once and the alcohol seemed to eat away the ink but I forgot about that when I tried it in white. It changed the heat embossing slightly but overall I think it gave a very cool affect. Make sure you give me a shout out when you try it, I want to see!!!! :)
Two totally different cards! Love the water coloring that you did on the first one and the background that you placed it against makes the whole card just stunning! I like the second one because I think it would be a great masculine B-day card!
ReplyDeleteTwo very different techniques producing two very gorgeous cards!
ReplyDeleteVery nice cards...the first one I like the color very much..
ReplyDeletewell done
Cathy--both of these cards are so pretty! I especially love the top one with the black & white BG paper! Just beautiful! TFS
ReplyDeleteVery pretty watercoloring and papers on the first and I like the cracked glass and embossing on the second.

Beautiful cards. Your water coloring is fantastic. The cracked glass technique is perfect for that little image.
