Crisp Winter

Since I have another card already done I thought I would have a second post today.  Here is another card I've made with a Marks Finest Papers Stamp set, this time a Christmas card!!

I know I shouldn't go on about my own stuff, but isn't it so pretty!!?  The techique I used for stamping the trees is not new, I think I first learned it years ago.  Its one of those things that you kind of forget about over time, and then I saw it somewhere which reminded me.  If I could remember where I would tell you but I can't for the life of me, but I knew instantly that this would be the perfect stamp to use.

It is a really easy technique, basically you just stamp the same image 3 times without reinking.  This causes the image to be lighter and lighter each time.  If you stagger the image like I did, it looks like the three original trees are actually a forest and the trees further back are blurred by mist or snow.  This is such an easy yet impressive technique! When my husband first saw the card he thought it was just a pre-printed photo I put on my card, he didn't realize it was a stamp until I told him, lol.  :)

Once I had my image stamped I sprayed two shades of shimmer mist over the top to give an effect of snow, then inked the edges with light brown and navy.  I chose coordinating papers, cut everything down, inked the edges, and put everything together with some ribbon.  A few hat pins and gem stones finshed the card front off!

For the inside I inked a piece of white and stamped two sentiments from the same set.  I added some shimmery snowflakes I had punched from some spritzed scraps.

This card took more time than usual to put together, but it was really fun to let myself have the luxury of taking the time.  I'm glad I did as this card is sooo pretty!  I love it so much, maybe I'll just send it to myself so that I can put it on my mantle to admire!  Ok, maybe not, lol.  :)
