This time I dug deep in my paper stash to find these sheets from a Stampin' Up pack that I got three or four years ago - I think it may be one of the first patterned paper packs I ever got! I bought them because I loved them, which is the same reason I would flip by them every time. This time I was determined to use them!
I started wtih 7" squres from two different sheets, but since Stampin' Up! paper is double sided it was like I was working with four sheets. I trimmed each sheet into 1/2" strips and wove them in a random manner. The woven piece is actually backed with another kraft piece that I adhered the strips too as I went. Once the piece was completed and dry I cut it down to the size I wanted and chose all of the other elements to go with it.
I dry embossed the cattails into some kraft cardstock and trimmed it out. The embossing folder was actually a Christmas gift from my husband last year. (Can you believe I left a Tim Holtz item unused for that long!?) Once trimmed, I inked the piece with some creamy brown, and also inked the woven piece. I adhered the main pieces of the panel, added the burlap, foam taped the cattails over the burlap and added some ribbon and twine. This panel was adhered to the card front and I added more ribbon and twine to make bows, and some further embellishments. The flower stems are actually wire so I curled them around my craft pick. I added the sentiment last with more foam tape.
The inside I decorated with some spare strips of patterned paper.
Now its your turn!! Create a project with something you've hoarded over the years (just because its anything goes doesn't mean you can skip this step!) and go to Use it Tuesday. Add your project using the inlinkz by Friday September 21st, and make sure to tell us in your post what you used that was hoarded. One lucky crafter who joins in will be randomly chosen as featured guest designer in an upcoming challenge!!
I used the following supplies in my project:
Card Stock: Gina K Designs Black Onyx, Neenah Solar White, Stampin' Up Crumb Cake, Stampin' Up! Designer Paper (I can't remember the name of the collection).
