Craft Your Passion #123 Gone Buggy

Its time for another Craft Your Passion challenge and this time its a fun one - we've gone buggy!  Here is what I came up with:

We are being sponsored by Bugaboo this week and I got to choose one if their digis for my project. When I saw this cute ladybug I knew it would be the one I had to go with.  I used to have a thing for ladybugs (I even have a tiny tattoo of one), and I think they are pretty cute.  This image is no exception.  I coloured her up with some alcohol markers and Sakura glitter pen (sometimes I don't know what I would do without it, lol).  I cut her out and then I had a pretty clear image of what I wanted to do next.

I chose the various shades of card stock, then raided my green paper stash for some Stampin' Up! Certainly Celery (my favourite shade) scraps. I die cut multiple strips of grass and adhered them to the darker green sheet.  I assembled the card front, added the ribbon, adhered the panel to the card front, and added the ladybug, stamped sentiment, and flower.

 

I kept the inside simple with a matted piece of white, and a small bit of grass.  Lately I've been keeping the centers blank unless I am making the card for a specific person.  I've been doing so many DT projects lately I find it much easier to stamp or write the required sentiment when I am ready to give the card.

Pause Dream Enjoy Challenge #32 Around the farm

Its Friday so that means its time for another challenge at Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges!  This week the challenge is "Around the farm".  Here is what I came up with:

When I went to work on this project I realized I didn't have a farm or farm animal related stamp set or paper to use.  Luckily for me, however, I had won a few digital images from Crafty Sentiments a few weeks back, and had chosen this image called "MoMo", partially because she's cute, partially because that happens to be what I call my son from time to time (not really sure why, lol).

Once I coloured her I trimmed and corner rounded the card stock.  I masked the image and sprayed various shads of mists, then chose coordinating card stock and patterns.  I originally had the card laid out without any washi tape, but I felt something more was needed and this yellow tape works perfectly. Once I adhered the pieces for the main panel I added ribbon and adhered the panel to the card front.  I made a faux bow, added a flower, and adhered the image over the ribbon with foam squares.  Adhering the sentiment was the last step.

Well, almost the last step. I wasn't happy with how I coloured the MoMo's bell so I added some Sakura glitter pen over the top.  I wasn't expecting it, but the alcohol ink bled into the clear glitter ink and tinted the glitter purple and gold.  I wasn't expecting it but I think its so pretty!

I kept the inside simple with a piece of white trimmed with a leftover scrap of pattern paper.

Craft Your Passion #122 Anything Goes

Its time for my first challenge at Craft Your Passion Challenges.  That is pretty exciting in itself, but what is even more exciting is that the challenge is anything goes!  What is more fun that that!?  We were also given the opportunity to use some digital images - mine is called "Kutie Kim Roller Girl" from one of this week's sponsors, Sassy Studio Designs.  This is what I came up with:

Colouring people is definitely not one of my strong suits, so getting this for my very first image was a little daunting, but I think I did ok.  I coloured the image first, then trimmed it out and slightly inked the edges with black once I cut it out. I kept the papers kind of monotone to ensure the image stood out.  The flower I had made out of white poster paper and die cut circles, and I sprayed and inked them to coordinate.  The gems I had in my stash and I thought they looked perfect as flower centers. 

I kept the inside without sentiment so I can add one once I decide to use it.  I also added some leftover scraps to dress it up.

Pause Dream Enjoy Challenge #31 Babycakes!

Its Friday so that means its time for another challenge at Pause Dream Enjoy Challenges!  This week the theme is to make a project featuring cupcakes or babies.  This is what I came up with:

This was a really fun one.  I started with the patterned papers, then chose the marker colours to coordinate.  I watercoloured the image with a water brush and markers, added a bit of glitter pen, inked the edges, and embossed the entire panel with clear Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (my new favourite thing) and crackled it by putting it in the freezer for a few minutes.  Once cracked, I rubbed the surface with a light brown ink pad to highlight the cracks,  and cleaned the surface of the embossing with good ol' Windex (I had tried baby wipes first but the surface was streaky.  Windex seemed like a good option to try and it worked!).

Once I had my focal image done I constructed the rest of the card.  I trimmed and inked the papers, chose ribbon and a button and assembled everything. Once the main panel was finished the rest of the card went together really quickly.  At the last minute I added some rhinestones, and glitter pen to the sentiment.

I decided to leave the center of the card blank as I can always add a stamp later for a particular event if needed.  Once I adhered some inked white I trimmed some of the rows of chevrons and added them randomly to the inside.  All done!

I have some wonderful news that I've been sitting on - I was chosen to be a part of the Design Team for Craft Your Passion Challenges!!  I had really enjoyed being a guest designer in June, and when the Design Team Call came up I put my name in and was chosen!  I'm very excited and feel so honoured to be included in such a talented group of ladies!
