Craft Your Passion #144 Vintage or Shabby Chic

Hello everyone!  I hope you had a lovely holiday season!  Monday has rolled around again and its time for another Craft Your Passion Challenge. This week we are asking you to make a project that is vintage or shabby chic - my personal favourite.  Here is what I came up with:

I started with the image which is called Story Time Girl from The Sugar Kissed Cottage.  Isn't she cute?  As soon as I saw her I knew which papers I would pair her with.  All of the patterns come from October Afternoon's Woodland Park collection, but I started with the sheet in the background that looks like an old fashioned book page.  I coloured the image to coordinate and trimmed her out, chose card stock and coordinating patterns and set out to create my card.

Once everything was trimmed to size I tore the edges of the smaller pattern and inked everything.  I then used the distressing tool on the navy piece and added a bit more ink to the edges.

I adhered the patterns, added ribbon, and buttons threaded with twine that I wrapped around the panel.  The buttons come from one of those 1 lb grab bags you can get, and I actually flipped the grey button over.  The side that looks like ripples is the backside of the button.

Once the panel was adhered to the card front I added the image on foam tape.

I'm not sure who I'll give this card to yet so I left the inside blank.  To decorate I trimmed some of the patterns, tore some edges, inked everything and adhered it together.  I'm happy with how it turned out.

This was a really fun one and now its your turn! Simply create a vintage or shabby chic (or both) card and link it back at the Craft Your Passion Challenges by Sunday January 13th.  Don't forget to check the blog to see what prizes are up for grabs this week!

And don't forget to visit the rest of the DT.  We all had fun this week and the projects demonstrate this.  Why not take advantage of the free inspiration they provide!  :)
