Since the DT is sneak peeking some of the stamps I thought I would show you one of the cards I've come up with:
This was a really fun one to make! This uses the "Just a Note" stamp set, which I think is the most versatile of all the sets this month. I started by stamping the background stamp on white card stock, then die cut several snowflakes with my Cuttlebug.
It is here that I'll tell you about an awesome tip I have never tried before. Use waxed paper with your intricate dies! I most recently heard this on a Scraptime video, you can find the corresponding post here. I've heard this tip before, but Christine uses the same snowflake die set that I have and so I thought I'd try it out. Before this I'd found these dies a bit labour intensive, so I hadn't been using them as much as I would like, but you will definitely be seeing them more on projects!
Once I had my snowflakes I constructed the rest of the card. I chose a blue card base and trimmed a panel from the same colour. I embossed the panel with a Tim Holtz embossing folder called 'Cracked'. I thought it could look like an icy background. I added some ribbon and twine, inked the edges, and rounded the corners, then foam taped the panel to the card base. I added the snowflakes and some rhinestones.
For the centre of the card I matted some inked white with more white card stock stamped with the musical background stamp. I stamped a verse and sentiment that come from another new set called "Winter Scenes". In retrospect I should have used a darker ink but I still think its pretty.
This is probably not my first sneak peak of the day so check back later for more! And don't forget to come back on Tuesday for the official blog hop, and then you can see the actual sets!
Here are the supplies I used for my project:
